Partnerships with Hawthorn Football Club & Adelaide Crows

We are very excited to have partnered with Hawthorn and Adelaide Crows AFL Football Clubs for the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Both clubs have been very active and generous in their support of our relationship, having visited schools with Harold and either Hawka in Victoria or Claude in SA . We are working together to engage and excite children, providing a memory which contains information related to being healthy and staying well.

We have developed some collateral for each of the relationships, including stickers with Harold and Hawka to give to each child, and a coloring competition which will “remove the screen” for a few minutes and encourage the use of motor skills and imagination.

Through our partnership, Healthy Harold attended an AFL match in Launceston! We were recently invited by Hawthorn Football Club to attend the Round 4 match at Aurora Stadium in Launceston. Harold was extremely excited to attend the game to support his one of his favourite footy teams and to interact with the community. The Life Education team were set up in the Hawthorn Fan Zone, handing out balloons and stickers, creating some wonderful colouring in masterpieces with young fans and talking about our Health and Drug Education programs with families. Harold could also be seen walking around the stadium posing for photos with fans and stopping for high fives.

Student volunteers from the TasTAFE Launceston campus provided greatly appreciated assistance with this event which saw 17,035 people attend the match. As a result this event provided a successful opportunity for Life Education to continue building awareness of our Health and Drug Education programs in Tasmania, with interest for the programs and a school visit from Healthy Harold shown from many children and families.

Harold is also happy to report that Hawthorn were able to come away with a fantastic win for their first match of the year in Tassie! Life Education and Harold are very much looking forward to attending Hawthorns next Tasmanian match on May 14th.
