Ocsober fundraising ideas

Ocsober is a great way to do something beneficial for your own health and wellbeing. By saying 'no' to alcohol for a month, you're saying 'yes' to looking and feeling better and healthier.

But there's also an important fundraising component to Ocsober as well. If you're not feeling 100% confident about fundraising, or would like some more information on how to do it well, read on!

We've prepared some ideas to help you raise as much money (and awareness) as you can...and have fun doing it!

1. Social media for social good

A great, easy and absolutely 100% free way to spread the word about your Ocsober experience is to use your existing social media platforms. Why re-invent the wheel when you don't have to?

If you're on Facebook,Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest or any other social media platform, share your journey and experience of Ocsober with your followers. Announce the fact that you’re seeking sponsors / supporters to help raise money for this great cause – always referring to your direct Ocsober supporter page. And ask your friends to ‘share’ your posts… letting them know just how important this is.

To make your life easier, we've created a range of Facebook avatars and banners that you are free to use.

Don't forget to also follow Ocsober on Facebook and Twitter as well. That way, you'll stay up-to-date with all the latest information. You can also comment, like and share the information shared by Ocsober. This is another really great way of spreading even more awareness to your followers.

2. Keep your Ocsober page updated

Update your Ocsober page on a regular basis.

This will allow your sponsors to see how you’ve found WILL POWER and have become a role model during Ocsober. You can do this by changing your photo and editing your personal message on a regular (say weekly) basis.

3. Don't forget about email

Email is still one of the most widely used forms of communication because it works. Everyone's checking their email, pretty much all the time, right?

So spread the ‘FREE WILL POWER’ cry far and wide. Ask the people in your contacts list to forward your e-mail to their networks to let others know about your efforts.

You can also update your email signature to link to your fundraising page. Here's an image we prepared earlier that you are free to use.

4. SMS

Send an SMS message to people you know asking them to sponsor your challenge. Please remember to refer them to your direct Ocsober supporter page.

5. Use the Ocsober tools
