The Moreton Bay Life Education Committee hosted a Combined Services Dinner on the 30th of April to raise funds and increase awareness of the Life Education program being delivered in the region.
The dinner is an annual event. This year it was held at the Eatons Hill Tavern & Function Centre.
It was a great night attended by over 150 guests including the Federal Minister for Dickson, Minister for Health & Sports, the Hon. Peter Dutton MP who presented the Community Services Award to the Saturday Canteen Group.
A large number of local MPs and councilors also attended including the Member for Pine Rivers Seath Holswich MP, the Member for Kallangur Trevor Ruthenberg MP, Moreton Bay Regional Council Deputy Mayor Cr Mike Charlton, as well as Cr Bob Miller (MC), Cr Julie Greer, Cr Brian Battersby, and Cr David Dwyer.
The business community was well represented at the event with many prominent business leaders showing their support for Life Education. One of the guest speakers was Former Queensland and Australian Rugby League representative, Petero Civeniceva.
Life Education CEO Michael Fawsitt also spoke at the event, thanking the local community for their support of Life Education, and urging for their continued support, as the organisation expands into delivering its program into even more schools in the area.
“We have a wonderful opportunity to empower children and young people to make healthy, positive choices in their lives” he said. “Our challenge is to ensure we reach as many students as we can in the region. Through your ongoing support and assistance, we will be able to meet this challenge together and ensure that we see generations of young Australians living to their full potential.”
The evening raised $2168 which will go directly towards assisting schools in the Moreton Bay Region to be active in the Life Education Program.
