Mango Auction success

The iconic Brisbane Markets 13th annual auction of the season’s prized symbolic first tray of mangoes (as well as other fantastic auction items) took place on Thursday, 9 October 2014.

The auction was a stunning success with the winning bid raising $30,000. The money raised on the day will jointly support Life Education Queensland and Diabetes Queensland.

This year, the winning auction bid was by Brisbane fruit shop owner Carlo Lorenti. This winning bid marks Carlo's 7th crowning of 'Mango King'. "It's always great to be able to help out these two wonderful charities - I'm very proud of it," said Carlo.

The atmospheric auction was hosted by TV personality Bill McDonald. Master auctioneer Haesley Cush talked his way into the crowd’s pockets as he announced the raffle prizes.

The Brisbane Markets Mango Auction has generated over $750,000 for charity since Brisbane Markets Limited bought the Markets in 2002.
