Life Education Victoria Richard Williams OAM Contribution to Community Award

Congratulations David Mann OAM FAICD - Life Education Victoria Richard Williams OAM Contribution to Community Award  winner.

It is not often that people remember the exact moment that someone enters their lives – their first meeting or interaction – most people would remember their first contact with Richard Williams OAM as he made such an impression.

Richard was a leader in the true sense of the word – he taught many people in his life about giving, about tolerance and about commitment. He worked tirelessly for the community for virtually his entire life. He inspired others to be better; to be generous and patient, just as he was. He enjoyed making a positive difference; he excelled at motivating people to help others; he used his expertise and knowledge and his life experiences to benefit others, and he led by example.

After Richard died in August 2015 from pancreatic cancer, the Board of Life Education Victoria voted unanimously to introduce the “Richard Williams OAM Contribution to Community Award”. This is an annual award that will be presented at the Gala dinner to a person who has shown commitment to helping others and making an impact in the community in the spirit that Richard did. The inaugural award was presented this year to David Mann OAM FAICD by Richard’s close friend, Paul Wheelton OAM, together with his wife and daughter Sandra and Joanne Williams. David is a generous and passionate advocate for community and is renowned for his work with the Emergency Services – an apt winner. Congratulations David!
