When Sunrise host Samantha Armytage paid a virtual visit to six Australian high school students to check in on how they are adjusting to a new way of schooling due to coronavirus, she turned to Life Education CEO for help.
The students, aged between 15 and 17, admitted that learning from home and being apart from their friends has been a major adjustment but showed wisdom and maturity in the face of adversity.
Lower the bar: You can’t be a full-time teacher-parent – and manage your own job. It’s ok to do just a bit of each right now
Don’t sweat the screen time: While it’s important to keep an eye on the content they are viewing – loosen the rules on the amount of time – just for now – while they’re at home more.
Exercise: Regular physical exercise is not only good for our general health – but we know it helps protect against depression and anxiety. Children between 5 and 18 need at least an hour of exercise a day.
