The annual Bright Autumn Festival Gala Day was held on Saturday 4th May 2013 and wouldn't be complete without Harold the giraffe and his helpers Ann Ryan & Marie Kucera. Starting at 1.45pm, the parade included floats from business and community groups, brass and pipe bands and street entertainment, attracting crowds of thousands including locals and tourists.
Harold walked the 1km parade stopping for photographs, high-fives and cuddles to commentary about what Life Education is about. To highlight the importance of the work Life Education does in this North East region of Victoria, was shown when an elderly gentleman sitting down in a chair along the sidelines, called Harold over with determination. He locked eyes with Harold, shook his hand firmly and said, 'thank-you'.
Harold and educators Ann and Marie visit many schools in the area, including Porepunkah Primary, Bright P-12 College, Harrietville Primary and Wandiligong and are thankful for the work of the tireless volunteers do behind the scenes, in this community.
