About Victoria

Life Education Victoria (LEV) is a community-based, independent organisation at the front line of positive and preventative drug and health education. Approximately 200,000 children and 18,000 families take part in the preschool, primary and secondary programs each year. Helping young people make informed decisions about drugs and their health is at the heart of the program, which is driven by the popular Life Education mascot Harold the giraffe.

Specialist educators, utilising their experience and training, work with schools to develop programs to support the provision of best-practice drug education.  Sessions are age specific and sequential with written and electronic resources provided to support both students and teachers in the delivery of ongoing drug education in their classroom.  A visit to the mobile Life Education van facilitates the development of students' knowledge and skills to identify risks and make informed decisions.

In 2009, 98% of teachers recommended their school re-book the Life Education program.

'The program provides highly motivating content to teachers and students. The presentation and delivery is the essence of its success.  It is both a catalyst and a huge support in addressing drug/health education in country primary schools. The van is one of the highlights to the students’ year.' - Tatura PS

‘I thought the program and the workbooks perfectly suited the messages we were trying to communicate regarding healthy bodies and healthy lifestyles.  It is great to have teacher manual, CD Rom, Student Workbooks, ‘on-site’ lessons and the presence of the Educator AND van. The kids just love Harold and the special atmosphere within the van, the models/screen/brain and activities.’ – Ballan PS

‘An essential component of a child’s education’ – Chelsea PS

‘We have made excellent use of the resources provided. The CD, human body model, show bags and books the children made all provide fantastic discussions and positive reinforcement for healthy food and lifestyle choices’. – Macedon Ranges Montessori Preschool

‘The mobile classroom session was brilliant, well structured and very active and interactive. The kids loved it.’ – Beth Rivkah Ladies College
