Life Education now has two brand new Mobile Classrooms to reach North West and South West Queensland!
The Mobile Classrooms are fifth wheelers – so called because the horizontal fifth-wheel coupling provides the link between the van and the towing vehicle.
One of our brand new fifth wheelers Mobile Classrooms.
The benefit of the fifth wheeler is that our educators can drive the Mobile Classroom themselves as it is towed behind a regular vehicle. This means we no longer need to rely on towing services, so we can get out into remote parts of the state where the children would otherwise miss out on our program.
We delivered our program in Roma for the first time ever and Mt Isa can now access Life Education again for the first time in 13 years!
The North West and South West Mobile Classroomshave been purpose built to travel out West. Two Ford Ranger Utes were purchased and purpose-fitted with a tow hitch. Our educators completed one full day of driver training to learn how to hitch and unhitch, drive, turn, park and reverse the Mobile Classroom..They also had to master how to level the van once it has been unhitched from the Ute.
The fifth wheelers are fitted out with all the usual technology needed for Life Education programs – including 55 inch Samsung screen, C-Bus system, fiber optic lights on the roof and air conditioning. The fifth wheelers are only slightly smaller than our regular Mobile Classrooms. Every inch of space is cleverly used – for example storage in the goose neck, and concertina doors at the back to accommodate a small office space with a desk for the Educator and some more storage.
We hope to get more of these fifth wheelers in the future to keep expanding the delivery of our programs in the most remote areas.
