Life Education SA has a new look Board of Management. The cliché “if you want something done, ask a busy person” certainly applies to the following volunteers who each bring to the Board of Life Education a commitment to give back to the community and a passion to help young people.


steve_kelton Mr Steve Kelton - Chairperson

Steve Kelton was appointed Chairperson of Life Education South Australia in November 2007. Steve brings to Life Education a wealth of experience and expertise in Education and Management (formerly Director of Regency and Onkaparinga TAFEs in SA and Executive Director of Human Resources for the then SA Department of Education, Employment and Training.)  In retirement Steve works on a consultancy basis with Austraining International and Australian Volunteers International on a number of international projects. Steve’s interests and involvement in the community are extensive. He and wife Liz volunteer with Fred’s Van (St. Vincent de Paul).  Steve is also President of the Brighton Tennis Club, a JP (Justice of the Peace) and on the Board of the SA Adelaide Language Centre.

 


ralexanderMs Rebecca Alexander

Rebecca was re-appointed to the LESA Board in 2011,  having previously been a Board Member from 2001 to 2008, including Chair in 2006.  Rebecca is the founder of business coaching, training and facilitation business, Inspiring Action.  She is qualified in Business Management, Community Services and Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).  Her diverse experience spans over 20 years, including major change and communication programs such as acquisitions, mergers, integrations, restructures and strategic planning, enabling her to understand the dynamics of complex business environments. 

Rebecca is passionate about the health and wellbeing of children and youth and she sponsors disadvantaged children in Kenya, provides educational resources in Fiji, and coaches young leaders for World Youth International’s overseas action program.


mikedwyersaMichael Dwyer

Michael was appointed to the LESA Board in 2010. He is the Adelaide Managing Partner of national law firm Sparke Helmore and has extensive experience in insurance law and personal injury litigation. Michael also advises and educates employers and insurers on workplace relations and industrial accidents and manages the firm’s corporate social responsibility program locally. In addition to his work with LESA, Michael is a longstanding Board member of the Carer's Association of South Australia Inc.

 


doug folberMr Doug Folber

Doug was elected to the Board of Directors in 2009. He has over 36yrs of experience in education in South Australia with particular interests in Aboriginal Education and Special Needs.

As a recently retired teacher/Principal and having worked in a variety of settings, country and metropolitan, Doug has developed a keen awareness of the links between socio-economic circumstance and drug and alcohol abuse.

Doug’s knowledge and expertise of how schools function brings an additional perspective to our Board; providing insight into the best way of meeting the needs of children in our schools.

Although retired Doug continues to teach part time in Special Education.


duncanredmanMr Duncan Redman (Treasurer)

Mr Duncan Redman  became a member of the Board of LESA in 2001.With a successful career as a Chartered Accountant spanning over 30 years, Duncan brings to Life Education SA the across-the-business knowledge and understanding to deliver successful business planning, business development and financial & human resource management.  Whilst delivering positive outcomes, he has the passion, understanding and commitment to act responsibly to preserve and protect the interests and performance of people on all levels.
