According to Wesfarmers Public Affairs Manager, Kent Beasley, the partnership will ensure that all Blackwater and Blackwater North State School students will receive the Life Education program free of charge. Another important part of the funding was the provision of a new Mitsubishi Lancer for Life Education’s local Educator, Anna Lucock, who travels long distances to reach schools across Central Queensland. HR Manager, Deb Cheyne, who attended the launch on behalf of EGM Rod Bridges, handed over the keys to the new vehicle and was lucky to receive a big hug from Life Education’s much loved mascot, Healthy Harold. Life Education Queensland CEO, Michael Fawsitt, was excited that Wesfarmers had chosen to support Life Education in its quest to help schools teach children the skills and knowledge to live a safe and healthy life. “It is a wonderful investment in the health and well being of local children,” said Mr Fawsitt. “Without the support of Wesfarmers Curragh, many children in the local area would be missing out.” Executive General Manager, Rod Bridges, said Curragh was very pleased to support such an important program. “We take great pride in providing support for our local community and this new partnership with Life Education is a great example.” “Our aim is to help organisations who make a real difference in the community, and this is something that Life Education certainly does,” Mr Bridges added. Thanks to the support of Curragh, Life Education hopes to reach around 9,000 children in Central Queensland this year, an increase of more than 20% on the previous year. |
