Parents are aware that as their children become increasingly independent they are more likely to encounter situations in which they must make decisions which will impact on their own health or safety as well as on their relationships. Parents are concerned to know how best to equip or support their children in making safe informed decisions about their health and safety. These decisions may entail avoiding, delaying or reducing alcohol or other drug use, or may involve planning for safe travel or seeking help should a problem occur. Many parents are also aware that decisions about drug use or non-use do not occur in isolation and are likely to take place within a context of decisions about friends, school or the home. Life Education believes that the best preventative education comes from a "whole community" partnership and uses the model of "The Circle of Safety" which incorporates Parents-School- Life Education Parents and carers are encouraged to get involved with the Life Education Program, given the critical role they play in the development of their child's health promoting behaviours. In addition to the opportunity to visit the Mobile Learning Centre, whilst on the school grounds, to learn more about the program, you are also invited to participate in family forums that provide the opportunity to share views with other parents and children, increase knowledge and develop strategies to support the healthy development of your children.
